Aronas MTB XCO 2021

On Sunday, May 23, 2021 Lefkosia Cycling Club organizes MTB XCO race ARONAS MTB XCO 2021.

The race, which is the 2nd leg of the Cyprus National Mountain Bike Cup for 2021, will be held around the Aronas and Didyma hills next to the University of Cyprus, in Athalassa in a beautiful, rich in flora and fauna. In recent years, the trails built for the purpose of this race attract more and more runners, cyclists and walkers, looking to exercise and connect with nature without having to travel far from the urban environment of Nicosia.

With the creation of this cycling routes, Aronas became a meeting point and training spot of the Lefkosia Cycling Club and its cycling school for kids. The site now offers a variety of dirt trails for all levels of cyclists, from flat trails for easy rides with the family to technical trails, descents, jumps and difficult uphills.

The race is organized in memory of Tassos Anastasiou, as was the first cycling race that was organized by his children in Aronas, in 1999.

The race is open to licensed and unlicensed riders of all ages.

Race Rules

Covid-19 Protocol

The race will be held under the difficult health conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the race, all measures of protection against Covid-19 in accordance with the Protocol of the Cyprus Cycling Federation will be applied.

  • All participants (athletes, team staff, etc.) will have to hold a negative Covid-19 antigen (rapid test) or PCR test. The test must not be over 72 hours old and the result (negative) must be presented at the start area.
  • Persons that have been vaccinated at least 3 weeks before the race or have a certificate that they got sick with Covid-19 during the past six months, don't need the test. They must present the relevant certificate.
  • Everyone who attends the race must properly wear a protective mask. Athletes will be able to remove the mask during the race and warm up.
  • Spectators are not allowed in the venue.
