APOEL is one of the oldest sports clubs in Cyprus. It was established as a football club in 1926 and now it runs the various sports departments including Cycling.

The sport of Cycling is totally connected with the historical club of APOEL Nicosia. The cycling department has been active since the 1970s, starring athletes Michalis Agrotis, Akis Asproftas and Nikos Antoniadis. A top moment in the course of APOEL was the participation of Spyros Agrotis in the Olympic Games of Los Angeles in 1984.

The racing team of APOEL consists today of 15 cyclists who star in domestic competitions and participate in races abroad.
